On cellphones in the classroom 

Here is a reflection on how the debate went on Thursday about cellphones in the classroom:

Good things

• Strong ideas were gathered and presented
• Some members spoke with a confident voice

Not so good things

• Others were lacking confidence
• Some speakers were interrupted by other speakers and the audience
• Evidence and ideas needed to be better organized beforehand

I believe that cellphones should be in the classroom but if this was gonna happen there would need to be some certain rules. I believe this because 1) Cellphones can help with learning through apps like calculator and learning games 2) Cellphones make it a whole load easier to take photos for our blogs 3) Cellphones can also make it easier to do learning apps such as word mania.

my narrative for term 2

“Get up “shrieked Kasper's mum from downstairs “it’s time to go to school” “Okay”Kasper howled back down to her” he got out of bed not happily and slowly trudged off to school down the street there was an eerie silence as he made his way slowly to school. After a few minutes he was at school but he wasn’t happy about it so he was sorrowful all day and didn’t want to do anything and that is how he got into detention for not doing anything, except for p.e. Come on mum I’m ready to go politely called Ernie to his mother he was a lot happier about going to school than Kasper was his mum drove him to school he was so joyful until he made it to school.They were two very different people. When he saw Kasper trudging into the classroom and he poked his tongue out at Kasper but a teacher walked in front it just happened to be Mr sharp and he instantly sent Ernie to detention.At the end of the day they both walked to detention both looking glum. Oh no, it's you” snarled Kasper “yes it is” replied Ernie they were both in detention and it was Tuesday after school it was cold and dark because it was winter “OY! NO TALKING!” Yelled the teacher at the front of the class of 2 his name was mr sharp he was the meanest teacher ever he would make you stay in detention longer and if accidentally ripped a piece of paper he would put you in detention for 2 hours.the teacher left the room for 2 minutes to get his coffee and the two boys starting fighting and the sporty boy easily won and threw the other boy across the classroom and hit the broken computer at the back of the room and it hit a button and it started juddering and warning and then it glowed a magnificent green and started sucking things into it like a black hole and Ernie who was closest to it got sucked in at the sight of this the other boy ran out of the room but just as he was exiting it made an even bigger whir and pulled everything left in the room into it.Then all was silent it had turned off and the teacher came back into the classroom and was fuming he thought they had tipped the place and then ran but it was different. AAAAAAAHHHHHHH! Screamed the two boys they were falling falling and falling down down down and then SMACK! They hit the ground and the ground shook with the impact. They stumbled to there feet a bit shaken, they slowly clambered to their feet the trees were giants legs and the rocks were as big as mountains and the waves were crashing against the sand everything was quiet except for that the was as tall as a small tree you could barely see through wandered around the island they had landed on, they were really scared and they were starving they hadn’t eaten since lunch time and now it was 5:00.Kasper was right onto it he know what they needed to do and he bounced all over the place grabbing objects and tying stuff together, he does scouts back at home so he is well prepared. But Ernie not so much he knows nothing about the outdoors so he said in a shivery voice “Kasper what do we do”Kasper replied in a strong confident voice “we need to build a shelter and a fire for the night” “ok”said Ernie sounding a little bit less scared. A while later they were lying down in there little shelter wasn’t perfect but it would work and the fire was keeping them warm enough and keeping all the dangerous creatures that might live on this island. “we need to get some rest” said Kasper suddenly “i’ll keep watch” “But i’m hungry “said Ernie his tummy rumbling “Alright i’ll see what Ican do just wait here” said Kasper He came back about 30 minutes later Ernie was starting to get worried but he finally turned up with a massive boar flailing around over his shoulder will this be enough? he asked Ernie sat there mouth almost lying on the ground he said “are we seriously going to eat that” “Yes” replied Kasper “it's either this or you starve” They put a stick through it and hung it over the blaze of fire that they had made and it started to cook they were going going to be having food for days with that big pig.20 minutes later the pig was cooked to perfection the outer bit was crispy and the meat was melt in the mouth. BB UUUU RRRR PP!!! “Pardon me”said Kasper “that's the best meal i've had in ages delicious” “Yes that was very good” replied Ernie. “Alright now we need to sleep” said Kasper “Wake up wake up wake up” said Kasper to Ernie “it’s almost lunch time” “We need to search the island and get more food”.Said Kasper So they started wandering around the island in search of food they found a few berries and some fruit but not enough to survive so they kept their search chopping down trees as they went so they didn’t get lost. A while later they came to an entrance of a cave “ should we go in” said Ernie tentatively “No” said Kasper almost instantly So they carried on walking around the island searching and searching they were walking around the coast and they saw a bubbling in the water they stopped and stared at the disturbance in the water it started to get bigger ad more violent and then finally out of the water a massive submarine emerged from the depths of the water it was all rusty you could see little scraps of yellow it must have been a million years old.they pulled up to the beach and jumped out of the hatch at the top there were three strong men with tattoos all over them now on the beach with weapons of all sorts they were scanning the place not sure what they are looking for but I wouldn’t get involved.they peered over the rocks at the people who looked now that i've got a better look part robot.And i was right one of them shot a laser out of their arm straight into the woods.The Woods exploded with the lasers and then it burst into flames.And out of the flames came animals of every kind there were big cats and alligators anything you could imagine was there exploding out of the trees and charging straight at the intruders onto the island, “AAAAAAHHHHHHH”! Came a high pitched scream from the people on the beach, they were getting charged at by all these animals from all angels.The men ran for their lives towards their boat Ernie had tears rolling down his face and then he said in a babyish toan “I’m scared Kasper” “Don't worry Ernie everything is going to be okay ”Said Kasper reassuringly “I’ll get us out of here”Kapser added They clambered down of the rocks to get out of sight Ernie said “how are we going to get out of here Kasper”? “I don't know” said Kasper Then something suddenly ticked inside Kapsers brain “ We could sneak over and get on their ship “ They slowly crept over and made their way onto the old oak wood ship and it creaked horribly loud and the guys whos boat it was stopped and turned around creaking on the loose floor boards as they came Kasper and Ernie dived into these to barrels labled water and no surprises it they were full of water the guys walked past and sniffed out for the two boys but found nothing.after the guys walked round the corner Ernie and Kasper hopped out of the barrels and found a place to hide for the trip, suddenly there was an extra loud creak and Ernie and Kasper fell in this boobie trap that had been set and they CRASH! BANG! Fell onto a dusty computer and just like it did in the classroom it started wuring and flashing and it sucked them in like the one in the classroom they went through time just out of the time capsule they could see the two guys looking in and laughing their heads off . Later on they finally got spat out of the time apsule and surprisingly they fell right onto the desks where they had been sitting in detention befor all this action. And they checked the clock it was two past three they hadn’t been away for a minute, it seemed as if when they went to to this island time had stopped all togetherthen all of a sudden Mr Sharp walked back into the room and said “what’s all this mess” The two kids gazed around the room and it was covered in paper and all stationary and the teacher screamed at them and said “TIDY UP THIS RIGHT NOW!!!” the kids got straight to it Mr Sharp headed out of the room muttering things under his breath and the kids tidyed all afternoon until four aclock. But while they were tidying they didn’t notice that the two guys that were in their fantasy looked in the window and smiled but the two kids didn’t see.

Winter personification story

The trees danced in the ice cold winter wind bits of ice sliding down my back freezing me half to death I trudged through the meter deep snow my feet getting buried after every step and my hands almost breaking off with the cold. Out of the towering trees came a magnificent red sleigh golden bars and standing on top with the reins in her hands was a Queen covered in white, her cape was flying in the wind face as pale as the color white. I check my watch and it says -20 degrees I freeze in worry I was a statue if I don’t keep warm enough I could get hypothermia and die, Winters harsh weathers can change quickly out here it can go from blue skies and then after five minutes it can become snowstorms and blizzards. A flash of Lightning danced across the sky and then it Started crying and snow started descending on the Ground wind howling everywhere it was getting colder and colder by the second, I needed to find a shelter and fast. And from behind me, I heard a loud rumble louder than I had ever heard before it was an avalanche and it devoured everything in its path as it slid rolled and tumbled down the mountain luckily it was heading away from me. the water wiggled forward and back .all of the snow falling down made a soft crunchy white blanket covering the land.

Frozen adventure writing using the work we did on similes and metaphors

The amazing waterfall was a hydraslide heading down the arctic wasteland and the ice sticking up around the place was like world war 2 all looking like trenches. Penguins were flying around everywhere off the big icebergs like airplanes taking off beaks as sharp as javelins. The icebergs in the water were like boats lots in the middle of nowhere It was like we were on a reverse desert instead of being hot it was cold because Antarctica is actually a desert. There were also so many small mountains to climb so I had a go at first I slipped but then I regained my footing and kept on going and in time at all, I was at the top. I stepped out of my cabin and immediately I turned into a statue my whole body completely frozen in ice I slowly slid across the ice with my feet submerged in ice then as I move along the icy plains I come across a chocolaty rock sticking out of what looked like vanilla icing. Running around everywhere were white gummy bears with little baby gummy bears. “SMASH!” The ice broke just in front of me and out came 2 sea lions their teeth were razor blades skin all rough and an angry expression on there faces I didn’t want to mess around with these guys. So I set off running for home I didn’t think the sea lions would be fast being water creatures but to my amazment, they were fast really fast and they almost got me but I just made it home with them biting at my heels. Today I decided to go for a hike up the tallest mountain in Antarctica and on the way there was a massive crack in the ice and then all of a sudden it seemed to let go of the edge of Antarctica and flew straight down into the icy depths below now the track was blocked there was no way through and then like a majestic seal emerging out of the water the piece of ice came shooting back out bringing fish with it was raining fish. In conclusion, Antarctica is melting because of us and we don't even care when I was talking about the water shoots that's all melted ice and in no time all the ice will be gone and the water will rise and we will drown.

 I feel like I have improved in every aspect maybe more in writing because I am using paragraphs a lot more and more efficiently as well. In maths, I haven't really had a chance because we have been working more on geometry instead of fractions and decimals but I have still got a little bit better because of the weekly maths test. I have also improved in ready mainly because I am enjoying the book that I am reading so I want to do more and I am taking my time and getting as much as I can out of the book.

THE 5 R’S

1.Respect:

respecting others ideas even if you don't like them.respect people and be nice to everyone. respect isn’t just being respectful to people it’s also being respectful to the environment, so if there is a piece of rubbish lying on the ground pick it up even if it isn’t yours.

2.Reciprocity: be friends with everyone so if someone is alone go and talk to them and make them feel happy and no matter how sad they are if you try you can cheer them up

3.Resilience: not giving up when times get tough and pushing forward when a hard challenge gets in your way.  Bouncing back from mistakes.

4. Resourcefulness: looking after your school gear all year round and using everything you have to its full advantage don't forget you don't have to always use your device.

5.Reflectiveness: looking back on something you did in the past no matter how long ago it was because you never know when it may help you do something better.
